CRT screen cleaning procedure
We have detailed our recommended approach to cleaning your CRT screen below:
- Turn your CRT screen off and unplug from the mains
- Remove any excess surface dust from the screen with a duster or soft cloth prior to cleaning
- Spray the cleaning solution onto a clean, soft microfiber cloth and then clean the surface of the screen taking care not to apply too much pressure
- For stubborn marks a second application may be necessary
- Ensure that any excess liquid or moisture is removed from the screen
Always double check the manufacturer's specific instructions on how to clean your equipment. Most manufacturers have different recommended methods for cleaning.
What should I avoid doing?
NEVER open the casing of a CRT screen. This is highly dangerous as electrical current can be present even if switched off.
Do not use abrasive materials on the screen. This can damage the surface of the screen by scratching it. Always use a lint-free cleaning cloth.
Try to avoid commercial glass cleaning products. Although CRT screens have a glass frontage, they can have anti-static or anti-glare coatings which should be protected. Only use cleaning products specifically manufactured for the cleaning of screens.
